EV Awareness and Adoption
EV awareness and adoption refer to community efforts that help residents, workers, and local businesses understand the benefits of electric vehicles and feel confident transitioning away from gas-powered cars, trucks, and equipment. Electric vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions, helping reduce air pollution in neighborhoods and improving long-term community health.
Breathe Southern California (Breathe SoCal) works to ensure communities have the knowledge, resources, and support needed to make informed decisions about going electric.
What is EV awareness and adoption?
Gas-powered vehicles are one of the largest contributors to air pollution in Southern California. Communities located near busy streets, freeways, distribution centers, and industrial areas often experience the greatest health impacts. Increasing EV adoption can:
Reduce harmful air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions
Improve respiratory health for children, older adults, and vulnerable groups
Lower transportation costs through fuel and maintenance savings
Decrease noise pollution from loud engines
Support cleaner, more resilient neighborhoods
Why does this matter to our communities?
Our team partners with residents, nonprofits, small businesses, and community leaders to:
Provide EV education through workshops, demonstrations, and outreach events
Share information on rebates, incentives, and programs that reduce EV costs
Connect individuals and organizations with trusted EV and charging providers
Support workforce development tied to EV maintenance, charging installation, and clean transportation jobs
Work with disadvantaged communities to ensure equitable access to EV benefits
Offer ongoing, community-based support to help people feel confident making the transition
Breathe SoCal’s goal is to make clean transportation accessible, understandable, and practical for everyone—regardless of income, background, or neighborhood.
